Welcome to the Clary Lake Association website as we enter the doldrums of winter! If this is your first time visiting our website, an extra hearty welcome, and we do hope you’ll come back. If you are a returning visitor, know that your continued interest in our website and in the Clary Lake Association is greatly appreciated. The Clary Lake Association plays a vital role in protecting and preserving Clary Lake, and we very much need interested and engaged people to keep the Association functioning and relevant. We’re an all-volunteer organization and we depend on people like you who love Clary Lake to get involved and help out.
There are lots of ways you can help the Clary Lake Association. In particular we are currently looking for people to help produce our newsletter. We put out one printed Spring newsletter around the end of May and we’d like help putting it together. We’ve also discussed sending out a digital newsletter or two at other times during the year. If you love Clary Lake and like to write and would like to help support the Clary Lake Association, this is a great way to do it! I started doing the newsletter in 2007 when I was elected President of the CLA, and I’ve been doing it pretty much singlehandedly ever since. I no longer have the gumption necessary to continue without help. We primarily need people to write copy but there is other work involved including selling advertising, layout and design, etc.
Another important (and fun!) way to help out is by joining our CBI program! This coming summer will be our 5th season conducting Courtesy Boat Inspections at the State boat launch in Jefferson. We conduct courtesy boat inspections on Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. There are eight two-hour shifts per weekend starting at 6:00 AM and ending at 2:00 PM and we could use a few more volunteers to help us with this fun and important program. We will train you. All you need is a smart phone.
We would also like help with this website! Like the newsletter, the website has been pretty much mine and mine alone as long as we’ve had a website. Like the newsletter, I’m running out of the gumption necessary to keep up with the website. We’d like help finding and putting up relevant content on the website as well as your own original writing. This is a great opportunity for someone to gain some experience producing content on the World Wide Web! Experience working with WordPress would be helpful but is by no means a requirement.
If you’re interested in helping out with our CBI program, our newsletter, or our website, or if you have another idea for how you could be of service to the Association, please contact George Fergusson or use our Contact Form.
