A double rainbow after the storm

Sometimes a thunderstorm leaves behind a gift for all to see! Tonight, we were blessed with a rare double rainbow. Pretty much everyone on the west side of the lake ran out the door, camera in hand! It did not disappoint.

For those interested in the science behind rainbows, here’s a brief explanation:

A double rainbow occurs when sunlight reflects twice inside the raindrop. The secondary bow is fainter and features a reversed color sequence.

And if you could use a little hope:

A rainbow after a storm universally symbolizes hope, renewal, and the promise of better times ahead, representing the idea that hardships eventually pass.
