The Clary Lake Watershed Survey Committee was formed in 2023 and was charged conducting an update of our 2001 Watershed Survey. After considerable time spent planning the survey and with a lot of help from DEP Staff, we completed the fieldwork for the survey in early May 2024. Here are links to the Survey Report and online map showing the sites identified in the Survey:
We completed a Watershed Based Management Plan (WBMP) in December 2024. This plan was approved by DEP in January 2025 and it has been submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency for their approval. That approval is still pending. Here’s a link to the WBMP:
Once we’ve received EPA approval for the plan we’ll be able to apply for funding under the Nonpoint Source Water Pollution Control Grants (“319”) program to fund remediation projects. However, given the current review of federal spending this appears unlikely, at least in the short term. In the mean time we will concentrate on sites for which we do not need significant funding.
The Planning Committee chair is Board member Malcolm Burson. Other members are current President Gareth Bowen and Secretary George Fergusson, Board members Dave Knight and Jack Holland, and Members at Large Carolyn Curtis, and Paul Devlin.
